Three ways to keep glowing, radiant skin in the Fall

fall leavesFall is slowly creeping around the  corner. Before you know it, leaves will go from green to gold and pumpkin scented candles will  be in every store you walk into.  Don’t assume that just because it’s not warm, you can’t keep a healthy glow to your skin. The secret to radiant skin is healthy skin.  Here are three ways to keep your skin radiant, even in the Fall.

1. Moisturize and hydrate

Moisturizing daily will help prevent your skin from chapping and peeling in cool weather.  It will also give your skin a supple, more soft feel.  The Skin PhD Light Day and Night Cream is made with South African Botanicals  that will improve the appearance of your skin over time, while you reap the immediate benefits of more supple and hydrates skin.

2. Give your skin vitamins and minerals

Just like the body, the skin needs vitamins too! Vitamins A, C and E are well known vitamins that drastically improve the skin’s appearance by controlling sebum production in order to reduce breakouts, increasing collagen production, promoting an even skin tone and increasing moisturization in the skin  Click here to learn about Skin PhD products that are made with these vitamins.

3. Protein, protein and more protein

Protein in your skin comes in  many forms.  Collagen production is often damaged when the sun is over exposed to UVA and UVB rays.  The Fall gives our skin a chance to replenish what was lost over the Summer.  Skin PhD has many products that contain peptides.  Peptides are composed of amino acids. Amino Acids makeup  collagen and other proteins in the skin and throughout the body.  When topically applied, peptides encourage the skin to replicate collagen cells at a faster rate, which lead to more youthful, more firm skin.

With these three skin care tips and products, utilized on a daily basis,  your skin will look like Summer never left!

Summer skin care tips Part I: the top ways to keep your skin flawless this season

summerYour skin, the bodies largest organ is sometimes neglected, especially in the summer. With all the tanning, swimming and fun that comes with the season, it’s important  to remember that healthy skin is  just as important now as it is in the winter. Here are three best ways to keep the skin healthy, youthful and radiant all summer long.

Exfoliate and cleanse

It’s important to exfoliate and cleanse because of the foods that traditionally come with the season. Barbecue, ice cream and slushies, are just some of the foods we eat more frequently  in the summer  that can be high in fat, sugar and sodium, which will show up on your face without regular exfoliation and cleansing.

Hydrate

Hydrating  the skin is especially important because hydrated skin will heal faster, and look more radiant than poorly hydrated skin.  This is especially important in the summer because you sweat a lot more, which means the body looses fluid at a faster rate, and sun is more likely tan your skin, which may also cause dryness, peeling and irritation.

Moisturize

Sometimes it’s hard to keep your skin moisturized in  the warm season. Many moisturizers will sit on top of the skin, in the summer due to  excessive perspiration.  Because of this, it’s is best to moisturize at night.  This will give the skin a chance to absorb the moisture without perspiration interference.  Moisturized skin will stay hydrated longer, and will lead to a more even skin tone and less peeling and irritation when tanning.

These things in mind through out the summer is what will give your skin its very best appearance.  With little effort, it can be very easy to take care of skin in warmer seasons.  Click here for Skin PhD products that promote healthy skin in the summer.

3 tips to keep your skin healthy in the summer

Sticking to a good skin care regiment can be hard when you’re stuck dealing with hot and sticky summer days, but just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Don’t let your skin suffer because the summer heat is making you lazy.  Here are three way to keep your skin healthy in the summer, without making you uncomfortable in the summer heat.

Moisturize at night

Sometimes when you put lotion on in the summer and start to sweat, you sweat the lotion out of your pores, making your skin feel oily and wet at the same time. Moisturizing at night will give your skin the time needed to be able to absorb whatever oils or creams you use. It’s important to give your skin time to absorb moisture that will help keep it healthy. This especially goes for people who have psoriasis, eczema, or any other chronic dry skin disorders.

Tone, but do it with a product that actually works

It’s important to use a toner, especially in the summer for our skin. In the summer, as our skin get’s darker, it can cause dry blotches and uneven skin tone to become more of a problem. The right toner will minimize the melanocyte (cell that produces skin color) activity in your skin in order to preserve a more even skin tone that stays the same throughout the seasons. Be careful to make sure the toner you’re using actually says it reduces melanocyte activity, otherwise, it won’t have this effect on your skin.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is something that can be done at night as well. Exfoliating will dramatically help alleviate summer breakouts caused by the increased production of oil and sweat in the skin during the summer season. If you’re not exfoliating, the extra oil and sweat are combining in your pore, and can form small breakouts around your hairline, black/whiteheads around and on your nose, or even huge, full-blown pimples on your face.
