5 Reasons why Spirulina is your new favorite food and skincare ingredient

Spirulina is one of those super foods everyone knows is good for your, but very few know what it is, or how it works!  For starters,  spirulina is derived from algae plants and has several internal health benefits.  Skin PhD uses this super plant as a skin care  ingredient,  but it’s just as good for your insides, as it is for your outsides;  there’s nothing like skincare you can eat!

Spirulina is derived specifically from blue-green algae. which is scientifically known as Cyanobacteria. It normally grows in in lakes, ponds, and slow streams where water is warm and nutrient rich.

Spirulina is rich in protein, Iron and B vitamins,  If you read other posts in this blog, you’ll find information on how all three of these nutrients are  a must for healthy skin and a must for a healthy body.

Topically applied, spirulina can improve your complexion, reduce inflammation and help tighten the skin.  Internally,  spirulina has been used to treat mouth sores, improve  the immune system, increase energy and metabolism, lower cholesterol and improve digestion.

So,  with all this new information on spirulina, don’t go eating your Skin PhD products,  but seriously, go to your local health food store, and have a taste! Clearly, your body will thank you.
